A series of prints created as part of a series for a national portfolio entitled Changing Minds, Reading Minds, in collaboration with artists from other schools. In this work, I explored issues of identity in regards to race, place, history and gender. The first print was a 5-color Toray print using 3 different plates. The second series of prints were created using a combination of graphite dust, floor wax, sumi ink, and conte crayon.

6 ft x 8 ft: Utopia has always been an especially intriguing subject for artists to explore because there is no concrete basis for its existence except in the imagination. I was inspired to explore my own idea of utopia from Constant Nieuwenhuis drawings of New Babylon, an architectural proposal for a future world in which the need to work is replaced with a nomadic life of creative play. My own drawings juxtaposed structural spaces with more abstract landscapes in order to consider the similarities and contradictions that existed and reciprocally enhanced each other.
